Yugawara Yume Farm grows out of social-contribution work carried out through vegetable and fruit cultivation at Ozawa Farm. Its organizers describe it as a nonprofit organization planned for formation in 2026, rather than an already completed institution.
The name comes from the group’s base near Yugawara Sports Park, Yume Park, and nearby farmland. The project connects cultivation with a wider idea of local participation: people working, learning, and sharing a harvest together.
In 2025, the group borrowed idle fields without charge, planted and harvested crops collectively, and worked with local children’s community cafeterias, children in residential care, and their staff. Produce was provided to those facilities and shared among participants.
Its stated aims extend beyond a single field. They include restoring and using idle farmland, protecting the environment, supporting research and development in agriculture and fisheries, strengthening food culture and tourism, contributing to children’s food education, and supporting adult and older residents’ health.
The organizers also intend to work across Yugawara and neighboring communities such as Manazuru, in cooperation with schools, community groups, public bodies, agricultural cooperatives, and industry–academia partners. Events and additional initiatives are planned as the organization develops.
